Milton Keynes will be proud of a certain patrotic author and resident called Susan Popoola, a Human Resources Consultant who runs the HR Consultancy, Conning Towers and its subsidiary, Leverage Points, which is focused on social and community research and development. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).

After visiting Milton Keynes for the first time in 2002 and falling in love with its structure and organisation, Susan made a decision to move from London to Milton Keynes the following summer. Since her arrival, she has maintained an involvement in the community.

During a visit to Netherfield, Susan became aware that while it is an area with a deep sense of community, it is an area that is also faced with a number of social issues. This inspired her to take a closer look at the place that she had decided to make home, leading to the writing of the book - Touching the Heart of Milton Keynes.
